Atlanta Gas Light: work on Scott Circle

Fact Sheet. Click to enlarge.
from Atlanta Gas Light:
Atlanta Gas Light contractors are scheduled to begin a pipeline replacement project in the area near Medlock Park in the coming weeks. The specific area in the MANA area that will be directly impacted is Scott Circle.
This project is part of Atlanta Gas Light’s Vintage Plastic Pipeline Replacement Program. Replacing the older vintage plastic pipe with newer, technologically advanced plastic pipe with a longer useful life will help ensure an even safer and more reliable natural gas pipeline system.
Appropriate signage will be in place to help direct traffic around work areas. A letter and fact sheet was mailed to property owners directly along the project path.  There is also a project specific email and voicemail for residents to share questions or concerns – 404- 584-3142 / vintageplastic@aglresources.com

Woodridge Road Closure on Sept. 16 and on -- Atlanta Gas Light

from Atlanta Gas Light:
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as Atlanta Gas Light has installed the Eastside Pipeline through the Medlock Area community. We recognize that this project has created inconveniences for residents in the area of work and for others around the neighborhood.
We wanted to update you on construction activities around Woodridge Road that will involve a road closure late later this week. The contractor’s traffic plan is attached so neighbors can see the exact location of the closure and the planned detour around it. Signage will be posted in the neighborhood to alert pedestrians and motorists of the road closure.
Atlanta Gas Light’s independent contractor Latex Construction is preparing to “pull back” approximately 1,100 feet of pipe in the area of our easement that crosses Woodridge Drive (between Alberson Court and Larry Lane) to complete the installation to Lawrenceville Highway. Residents may have noticed the pipe that was strung out in the easement north of Woodridge Drive.
The pull back is scheduled to begin September 16 and may last up to 48 hours. It is a continuous process, and to protect the integrity of the pipe it cannot be stopped once it has started. During this time, there will be a higher level of construction noise and constant activity, including generators, portable lights, and other equipment.  If necessary, this work can continue around the clock until the pull back is complete. The affected areas will be restored once all of the equipment has been removed.
Should there be any changes to the schedule because of weather or other factors, Atlanta Gas Light will update residents as soon as possible. If you have additional questions, please contact us at (404) 584-3130 or eastsidepipeline@aglresources.com.
Again we thank you for your continued patience during construction and your willingness to work with us as we improve the system.

Update from Atlanta Gas Light

Marci Davis of Atlanta Gas Light contacted MANA president Bev Monroe with updates on the project that has been going on in the neighborhood since last September:

As neighbors have noticed, work has started up again in the easement by Wood Trail.  The section between Lawrenceville Hwy and Wood Trail is being re-done to go under the creek beds.  Pipes we see lying on the ground by Wood Trail are not there permanently.

As to the area between Wood Trail and Hunting Valley, they have to go back in over the next few months to make sure everything is as it should be. They may have to bring the big drill rigs back in. Property owners adjacent to the easement have been contacted and AGL is working with them.  Some of the work will be completed in the next couple of months, and monitoring of project quality will be ongoing into early next year.

People can contact AGL about the project at either the hotline number, 404-584-3130, or at eastsidepipeline@aglresources.com.

Atlanta Gas Light Update

Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) representatives attended the MANA community meeting last week. They distributed information about the project [similar to the information they asked MANA to distribute last September] and noted that the Wood Trail Lane worksite is wrapping things up. True to their word...

Atlanta Gas Light site on Wood Trail Lane: most equipment is now gone.
Several audience members asked about repairs to North Decatur Road--will plates be removed, will the road be repaved? AGL representative Zach said N. Decatur Road areas affected by AGL's work will be "repaved by Christmas" and asked neighbors to call the hotline at 404-584-3039 if they have concerns about AGL's work on particular stretch of road.

Hunting Valley Drive Closures: Oct. 18 and 20

Click to enlarge.  Closures planned for October 18 and 20.
Sent to MANA:

I am writing on behalf of Atlanta Gas Light to update you on activities around the pipeline installation at Hunting Valley Drive that will involve some road closures later this week. We recognize this is short notice but work in the area went more quickly than expected.

The contractor’s traffic plan is attached so neighbors can see the exact location of the closure and the planned detour around it.

The drilling work at the site is almost finished, but to complete the installation, the contractor needs to cross Hunting Valley Drive twice with the pipeline shutting down a small section of the road during this process.

The first closure is planned for this Thursday, October 18 and is expected to only last for a couple of hours or less. The second closure is set for Saturday, October 20 and could continue for up to 12-14 hours. Once this part of the installation gets underway, it cannot be stopped. Please be aware that this schedule could shift out by a day or two and possibly push the work to Saturday and Monday. Should it extend further into the week, we will reach out the neighborhood again.

As noted on the traffic plan, signage will be posted in the neighborhood to alert pedestrians and motorists of the road closure.

The areas around the drill sites will be cleaned up and temporarily stabilized once that work is complete in anticipation for the remainder of the pipeline installation currently scheduled to get underway in the neighborhood in December.

Thank you very much for your help in getting the word out to the community during this brief disruption.  We look forward to meeting with you all on Monday.

Regards,

Atlanta Gas Light worksite on Wood Trail Lane

The Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) worksite on Wood Trail Lane is in full swing. The project will replace older pipes to ensure safety and continuity of service. We first heard about this project last fall (October 2011 MANA community meeting).

Ongoing work at Wood Trail Lane. Click to enlarge.

AGL shared the information below for distribution to our neighbors. AGL representatives will attend the MANA community meeting next October 22.
