Update on Greg Germani: thumbs up

Greg Germani Trust Fund
Beth Anne writes on Facebook: "Thumbs up! Greg Germani gave me the go ahead to share this photo. The past four months have been extraordinarily tough, but Greg's here and giving it his all every day."
As we all know, Greg was (purposefully) hit by a driver while commuting on his bike last July. That driver has been arrested, is charged with attempted murder, and awaits trial. Greg is a Medlock resident and the genius behind the Atlanta Time Machine.

Greg's rehab is ongoing and so is the campaign to ensure that he continues to receive the very best support.

Beth Anne also posted that there's an fundraising even next November 7 at the Star Community Bar. Continued fundraising is needed because "Once Greg leaves the hospital and goes into outpatient treatment, his insurance benefits are less generous. Once he has utilized all of his insurance covered outpatient therapy visits (just about 2-4 weeks), the figure for daily outpatient therapy is in the neighborhood of $500 per day. Greg needs and deserves the best care possible and his incredible friends, family, neighbors and strangers are making that happen."

For anyone who can't attend this concert or just can't wait to pitch in, donations are possible through Greg Garmani's fundraising page at http://www.gofundme.com/GregGermaniTrust

This is for our neighbor Greg! Please go to http://www.gofundme.com/GregGermaniTrust to make a donation.
"On the evening of June 9, while cycling home from work, Greg was viciously, intentionally run down by a driver and left for dead. Thanks to the help of fast-acting strangers and the amazing work of doctors at Grady Hospital, Greg's life was saved that night.
Greg has received outstanding medical care every step of the way. Seven weeks after the attack, however, Greg is facing a long road to recovery. He has suffered multiple injuries, the primary one being a severe brain injury from the impact of the incident. (Importantly, he was wearing a helmet.) There is so much unpredictability about a brain injury, but the consistent word is that Greg will recover on his own timetable...
Contributions made via GoFundMe (or otherwise) will go to this third-party special needs trust, and those funds will only be used to meet Greg’s health care needs not otherwise covered by insurance or other means in accordance with the terms of the trust."

Update on Greg Germani

On June 9, neighbor Greg Germani was the victim of a hit-and-run while cycling on Flagler Avenue in Morningside. The Atlanta Police has found the vehicle that struck him but has not issued any other updates on the case. To contribute to the CrimeStoppers reward, go here.

Greg's girlfriend, Beth Anne, has a wonderful update as of July 8 via her Facebook page:
All these great prayers and vibrations are working, folks. Today we had an exciting and unexpected day. Greg spoke for the first time. He was able to say "hello" and "I'm fine" in response to questions by the medical staff on three occasions. Happy tears today, definitely. This is a big step, coupled with his gradually improving alertness. It also take a tremendous amount of effort for these short bursts of activity, so for every excitement, there’s a lot of down time. They've advised us that it will come in fits and starts and may not be consistent, but Greg is making progress. Thanks to his physical and speech therapists, Ruchita, Crystal, Holly, and Vicky for all their hard work today!
Hello back at you, Greg! Keep on soaking up the good thoughts and well wishes, of which there are so very many.

Update on Greg Germani's hit-and-run: "aggravated assault vehicle found"

Image via Fox 5 News; watch their report here.
Thanks for the caption, Fox 5 News, and the report that Atlanta Police has retrieved what they believe to be the vehicle involved in Greg Germani's hit and run earlier this month. Watch the report here. The vehicle was retrieved from the parking deck of the Gables Midtown apartment complex on Monroe Drive. Per neighbors interviewed by Fox 5 News, the vehicle has been seen in the apartment complex before, has been parked and not moved for a couple weeks, was covered with a tarp, and the license plate had been removed (but is remembered as an out-of-state, Michigan plate). If found, the driver will likely be charged with aggravated assault (vehicle used as a deadly weapon).

At tonight's Community Meeting, neighbor Susan gave a brief update on Greg's condition. He remains in serious condition but is showing improvement and will be moved out of the ICU ward. A long recovery lies ahead. Fundraiser information will be posted soon.

Keep getting better and stronger, Greg! And kudos to the Atlanta Police and whoever tipped them to the vehicle's location.

A June 10 report of the attack from WSB-TV can be found here. To contribute to the reward fund to help apprehend this dangerous driver, go here. According to the Decaturish blog, the total reward is approaching $30,000.

Help identify cyclist's attacker: video and reward drive

Among other great reasons, Greg Germani is known for creating
the Atlanta Time Machine, a valentine of a website that brings
images of of Atlanta then and now. To top it off, Greg  filters air
with his own lungs while commuting to keep everyone else's air
a little bit cleaner. Let's pitch together and find the driver that
ran him down, and in doing so, be like Greg and
make things a little better for everyone. Click here to contribute!
On June 9, neighbor Greg Germani was the victim of a hit-and-run while cycling on Flagler Avenue in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Police Department (APD) has released security camera video that appears to corroborate eyewitness reports that after the driver and Greg exchanged words, the driver turned around and drove after the Greg, who remains in the ICU at Grady Hospital. The driver is being sought on charges of aggravated assault.

To encourage people to come forward and identify the driver believed to be responsible, a campaign has been launched to offer a reward for information leading to his arrest.  Please go to https://fundly.com/reward-fund-for-the-greg-germani-case and make a donation and help sweeten the pot for anyone who may be on the fence about sharing information. At the Fundly website, the APD describes the vehicle and driver as follows:  "A Bright red Dodge Nitro SUV with front damage, driven by a black male 20-30 years of age with short hair".

Chilling video shared by the Atlanta Police Department:
